By working with the energy of the environment you will also be more attuned to your purpose and will produce and create more.

We are influenced by everything we connect to around us

It should also be an uplifting happy place and not sad or depressing. We can change the inner landscape of people by changing their outer environment. Symbolism is therefore very important in your home and place of work too.

We are surrounded by symbols. Everything in our homes and workplaces says something about us to everyone who sees it, be it your family, friends, clients, colleagues or your staff. The objects surrounding us in our homes and offices continually give messages to us at our subconscious level. This affects our thought processes and ultimately our behaviour. It is therefore important to use symbolism in a positive and life-enhancing way.

Every single object in your home and workplace, whether it is artwork, sculpture, piece of furniture, furnishing or decorative ornament can be categorised into a symbolic element to tell whether it is positively supportive to the occupants of the premises. Check and see what negative and positive messages are given by the artwork in your home and workplace. Are they dull, flat and limiting landscapes? Sunsets, showing declining energy? Stark aggressive images? Abstract lines without clarity? Improve the energy to improve your life,

  • Negative images include battle scenes, sinking ships, daggers, missiles, sunsets or anything dead e.g. plant, fish, animal or people.
  • Positive images include birds flying, sunrise, flowers, gardens and landscapes.

We live in a vibrational world. Just like a lamp lights up when the connection is made to the wall socket through the flick of a switch, our destiny is influenced by everything we connect to around us.

Symbolism in our homes

In 2005, I travelled to Malaysia to study Feng Shui with Lillian Too, the woman who brought Feng Shui to the Western World. Here I passed the exams to become a Master Feng Shui Practitioner.

The key learning, I took from this course was the importance of symbolism, of what you surround yourself with in your home and work. Lillian owned Feng Shui shops that were full of trinkets and symbols for every possible thing you can think of. Only two items really resonated with me.

Kuan Kung sculptures (below). He is a warrior who offers protection to those who let him in, he protects from negative energies. I bought one for my business and one for my home. I have positioned them facing the main doorways to keep the places safe and protected.

The second symbol which I adore is the infinity knot. I purchased 200 jade infinity knots on red rope to share with friends and family. Lillian told us that if ever we needed a taxi, to just rub our infinity knot and a taxi will come. I’ve tried and tested this so many times and it’s worked every time. Wow! Don’t ask me how.

My favourite symbolic painting is by Gustav Klimt which originally was called ‘The Lovers’ and latterly named ‘The KISS’. I used this picture throughout my workplace as I personally believed and connected this painting with KISS Keep It Simple and Sexy. I also used this painting and hung it in my bedroom above my bed head when I was ready to manifest my soul mate – it worked.
